People who like to take photos everywhere will definitely admire the Canon EOS Rebel T4i which boasts of a compact and lightweight body without compromising powerful features. It is the 10th version of Rebel created by the company and provides a lot of changes from its predecessors. It is comparably better than the Canon T3i and other point and shoot cameras. The T4i is highly recommended for intermediate photographers who are aiming to have more options and power from their initial DSLR.

The Main Advantages

The Canon EOS Rebel T4i is an 18MP digital SLR camera that features an AF point at center which is a diagonal cross-type. It has the new 9-point AF system which is all across. It has the continuous AF in Live View, the hybrid CMOS AF that will let you focus using Live View faster.

Video recording will also allow AF. Other features to watch out for include the touch screen shutter release, the vari-angle touch screen Clear View LCD II which measures 3 inches, the DIGIC 5 Image Processor, LCD Display Off Sensor, multi-shot noise reduction, ISO 25600, Video ISO 12800, 5 fps, Video Snapshot, handheld night scene mode, HDR backlight control mode, support for the GP-E2 GPS receiver, improved scene intelligent auto, chromatic aberration correction, art bold and water painting effects in addition to the creative filters, built-in stereo sound recording plus attenuator, UHS-I memory card compatibility, world time zone setting and photobook setup.

canon t4iMore Things to Expect

The Canon EOS Rebel T4i will render sharper images compared to its predecessors. Users will also notice improvements in image brightness although the noise might be more compared to the T3i. The improved brightness might be the reason for the added noise. The multi-shot noise reduction is a new feature for the camera and is available in JPG format only. To enable MSNR, long exposure NR must be deactivated. Using the MSNR mode, users will not be able to use flash.

As for movies, the Canon EOS Rebel T4i has 1920 x 1080 full HD onboard and has the files in MPEG4 format. A card with 4GB can store about 11 minutes worth of full resolution video. The camera will give users about 30 minutes worth of video sequence at lower resolution. The AF can also be adjusted while in movie mode. The touch screen allows users to shoot at different angles and can swing laterally by 175 degrees as well as rotate 180 degrees in a vertical fashion. There is a 9-point cross-type array in the AF system that will let you focus well. There’s also a dual cross-point in the middle that will provide added accuracy.

Conclusion

The Canon EOS Rebel T4i is priced at $799 which is a good buy, considering its main good points such as rendering sharp images, accurate color and other powerful features. Aside from giving you better quality images, video captures also better. Despite its drawbacks like added noise, it is a very good upgrade from the DSLR that most aspiring photographers start out with.
