The Scent of Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill

Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill, according to its box, has the top notes of green nettle accord, middle notes of transparent jasmine and lavender, and a base note of sensual suede accord. The green nettle accord with the sensual suede accord smells quite aquatic. All the notes blended together puts forward a scent of herbs with citrus; however the scent of transparent jasmine and lavender kicks in, whiffing off neutrality.

There is also somewhat a fragrance of mandarin, bergamot and cedar wood which brings forth the masculine in the combination of scent. Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill starts off as quite flowery, which is from the notes of transparent jasmine and lavender, and then the earthy leathery smell comes in a bit late.

The Packaging

The packaging of Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill is in a simple glass bottle which quite resembles that of a square. The top atomiser spray cap is cylindrical and smooth silver. The label spells out Dunhill, which is all in lowercase, is apparent and lucidly elongated. There is no claptrap on how the packaging has been made; it is simple and comprehensively designed.

The only extricate design that Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill devised is the somewhat half bow tie look that the substructure of the square glass bottle has adding some spice to its minimalist design.

The Availability

Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette Spray and 100 ml Eau de Toilette Spray. The 50 ml Eau de Toilette Spray retails for about $85.00 while the larger bottle of 100 ml Eau de Toilette Spray retails for about $105.00.

The Verdict on Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill

The fragrance was launched in 2009 as an earthy and leathery oriental fragrance for men made for the up to date and well groomed.

The Dunhill Black by Alfred Dunhill seems more aquatic and more green than black. The scent seems sensual and the tone of suede is evident.

Considering the name, it does not actually seem black. This men’s fragrance seems mysterious and suggests something dirty. It is upfront with its target market which is for the men who are contemporary, up to date and well groomed. It smells quite spanking new and spotless, simply for the polished. It is laid back and very young at heart despite what its label suggests.

The only down side it has is that its lasting power does not last that long, therefore constant application of the Eau de Toilette Spray is needed when wearing it.
